A security alert at the Four Courts in Dublin today following the discovery of a suspicious package is over.

A security alert at the Four Courts in Dublin today following the discovery of a suspicious package is over.

The alarm was raised this morning when a member of staff discovered the suspicious package shortly after 8am this morning.

An Army bomb disposal team was dispatched to investigate the package and Gardaí closed-off nearby roads to traffic.

An Army spokesman said the package was a "cylindrical-shape device with wires and putty attatched". A controlled explosion was carried out in an operation, which took less than 30 minutes.

A Garda spokeswoman said the all-clear was given shortly after 10am, and the northside quays have reopened to traffic.
