A British Army bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect device in Belfast city centre last night.

A British Army bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect device in Belfast city centre last night.

The device was discovered on the Donegal Road at around 7.00pm.

Following an inspection and controlled explosion, the device was declared a hoax.

The road was closed for several hours.
