Bogota - Soldiers killed five left-wing rebels and captured a sixth in a shoot-out at an army roadblock in southwest Colombia early yesterday, the military said.

Gen Jaime Ernesto Canal, commander of the army's Third Brigade, said all those killed in a 20-minute gun battle 28 km outside the city of Cali were urban guerrillas of the Cuban-inspired National Liberation Army (ELN).
