Racing: Captain Cole built on his victory at Downpatrick earlier in the month to claim a last-gasp success in the boylepoker.com Handicap on Irish 2000 Guineas day at the Curragh.

Peter Casey's 14-1 chance swooped late in the day in the mile-and-a-half event to collect by a head from 4-1 favourite Ragged Staff, although the five-year-old - ridden by the trainer's son Oliver — had been earmarked for an outing elsewhere on Friday night.

Casey said: "He was going to go to Wexford last night, but with the Friday night traffic we decided to come here and it has worked out well."
