The latest person to die of CJD is a Northern Ireland mother of three, it was confirmed yesterday. Ms Lynne Corkill (46), from Newtownards, Co Down, died in May after a two-year illness. CJD was not diagnosed until an extensive post-mortem was carried out in Edinburgh. CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease) is the human form of BSE. It is extremely rare and affects just one in a million people per year.
