Brian Clough has today offered support to the Professional Footballers' Association as the threat of a players' strike grows.

The former Nottingham Forest and Derby manager is backing the call for strike action on the weekend of December 1st as the PFA fights for a bigger share of television cash.

Clough said: "I was a player and as a manager and despite what people may have thought, I was very much a players' manager.

"If you are asking me where my sympathies lie, it's with the players".
