A Northern Ireland family have given up their anonymity so that a former Christian Brother who abused them as youngsters can be named. Brendan John Halpin (54), who has since left the Christian Brothers, pleaded guilty in a Belfast court to 25 charges of indecently assaulting two sisters and their brother between November 1975 and September 1981.

He was jailed for two years on condition he serves two years' probation on his release.
