London - A group of British peers is to meet the Chinese Ambassador in London today to seek the release of a Chinese student, who had been attending college in Dublin, from a labour camp near Beijing where he has been imprisoned because of his membership of the outlawed spiritual movement Falun Gong, writes Joe Humphreys.
The House of Lords delegation, whose members include Lord Moyne is also calling for an end to the persecution of the movement's practitioners, an estimated 10,000 of whom have been jailed since the Falun Gong was banned in July 1999. Among them is Mr Zhao Ming (30), a computer science student at Trinity College Dublin who was arrested on a visit home last Christmas.
