Grantham - In Lincolnshire, school children escaped with their lives when the roof of their double-decker bus was ripped off as it went under a bridge because they were so tiny, police said yesterday. The accident happened as the bus was taking 63 youngsters aged from five to 10 to their weekly swimming lesson. Chief Insp Mark Marsden said: "Had the top deck been full of adults I am sure that several would have been killed."
