Liverpool have reached an agreement with Lille to bring midfielder Bruno Cheyrou to Anfield.
Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton cannounced: "We have reached agreement with the club and the player for the transfer.
"Bruno Cheyrou will join us officially on July 1st."
Cheyrou, who is expected to cost around £4 million, has been one of the most coveted players in France and scored against Manchester United during this season's Champions League first group phase.
The 24-year-old, who started his career at RC Lens, joined Lille in 1997 and scored 15 goals this season for the French first division side.
The left-footed midfielder has been a key figure in Lille's rise to the top of French football under Bosnian coach Vahid Halihodzic.
His energy and physical strength have been indispensable in the midfield, forming the foundation upon which Lille's success has been based.
Recently linked with a transfer to Bordeaux and Lyon, a move away was a strong possibility last summer, although the prospect of Champions League football kept him at Lille.
The move to Liverpool could help unlock the door to international football where Cheyrou currently has the likes of Robert Pires and Christophe Dugarry ahead of him.
