Rangers will head off on holiday in buoyant mood after extending their lead at the top of the SPL to three points and maintaining their 100 percent home record.
New Ibrox recruit Steven Thompson came off the bench to mark his Rangers debut with the final goal in the Gers 3-1 win over Dundee on a day which saw champions Celtic held to a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen.
Hearts remained in third place after sharing the points with Edinburgh rivals Hibs in an extraordinary 4-4 thriller in which four of the goals came between the 89th minute and the end of stoppage time.
The SPL now shuts down for its mid-winter break until January 29th.
Barry Ferguson had opened the scoring for Rangers only for Steve Lovell to equalise.
Dutch midfielder Ronald de Boer made up for missing an open goal earlier in the match to give Alex McLeish's men the edge at half-time.
Thompson started the match on the bench as McLeish kept faith with a forward line of Michael Mols, Claudio Caniggia and Peter Lovenkrands.
But he made his case for a first team place by grabbing Rangers third eight minutes from the end.
Henrik Larsson gave Celtic the lead at Pittodrie with his 30th goal of the campaign.
But the Swede then had to go off with a head injury incurred in a collision with Phil McGuire as he scored.
Russell Anderson grabbed the Dons equaliser six minutes after the break.
Celtic will travel to Florida during their break while Rangers will head for the sunshine in Dubai.
