The gentle whinnying of horses will be replaced by the rhythmic thumping of dance music at the Cavan Equestrian Centre on the June bank holiday weekend.
The centre is the unlikely venue for what is being billed by the organisers as "Ireland's indoor biggest dance event".
Tickets are selling briskly for "Freedom" an 11-hour dance event being held in the centre on Sunday, June 2nd.
Most of the recent big dance events were held outdoors, so the promoters believe this will be the biggest indoor one.
One of the organisers, Mr Conor Farrell of Condar Promotions, says the 37,500-square-foot centre will hold 8,000 people without seating. Dublin's Point Theatre holds about 6,000, with some seating, for dance events.
"It's a fantastic venue and it has a great catchment area, close to the North, Longford, Drogheda, Athlone, Mullingar," Mr Farrell says. "Because it's indoors, we don't have the weather factor to worry about."
He runs a music shop, Beat Box, in Longford and believes the midlands has been asking for an event like this for years. "We've had Creamfields and Mosney and Belfast, but nothing really happens outside Dublin. We saw the gap and decided to go for it."
Mr Stuart Clarke, manager of Cavan Equestrian Centre, says although the centre hosted a few concerts in the past, this event will be a new departure. "Every precaution has been taken to ensure it runs smoothly." Security will be tight, he says. And no, the revellers won't frighten the horses. "The horses will be away from it, in a quiet zone of their own. They'll be fine."
As well as Irish DJs such as Mark McCabe, Al Gibbs and Robbie Butler, several international acts will perform. They include Dave Seaman, Agnelli & Nelson, Brandon Block and Lisa Pin-Up.
In true Ibiza-style, industrial-sized foam cannons will be suspended on industrial rigging over the audience and will turn the centre into a foam party at the appropriate time.
Tickets for the event (€33.50, including booking fee) are available from Ticketmaster agents. Buses will be provided from most midland towns.
