Warsaw - Some 25,000 Warsaw residents were left in the dark after a cat short-circuited a 110 kilovolt electricity transformer station in the city.

Trams were paralysed for an hour in the incident on Tuesday in the Praga district of the city. Several thefts from shops in the area were reported during the blackout. The cat was killed instantly, a spokesman said.
