Three men in their 20s were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in Co Tipperary on Saturday night.
The car in which they were travelling collided with a wall at Hughes Lot on the Dualla Road in Cashel at about 10.15pm. It is believed no other car was involved.
Two of the men are aged 22, while the third is 21.
They were admitted to Our Lady's Hospital in Cashel, where the two front-seat passengers remained in intensive care last night. The back-seat passenger was transferred to University Hospital Cork with serious head injuries. A spokeswoman for the hospital said his condition remained critical.
According to the Garda Press Office, the car appeared to have been travelling backwards when it hit the wall. The rear of the vehicle was extensively damaged.
Local gardaí said the site of the collision is beside Cashel Community School where a 50kph speed limit is in place.
A spokeswoman said the road was relatively straight and was not regarded by locals as dangerous. She said the car had just passed a slight bend before control was lost. Road conditions were slippery at the time following heavy rainfall.
The crash site was being preserved yesterday as a Garda crash investigator arrived to examine the car and the scene.
