A Co Clare man has been remanded in custody with consent to bail after he was charged in connection with a €1 million drugs seizure on the outskirts of Cork city on Wednesday evening.
Niall Guilfoyle (26) of Tullyglass Crescent, Shannon, Co Clare, appeared at Cork District Court yesterday charged with possession and possession for sale or supply of cannabis resin in Cork on March 22nd.
Det Garda Eileen Foster, of the Cork City Divisional Drugs Squad, gave evidence of arresting and cautioning Guilfoyle before charging him with the two drugs offences. He had nothing to say in reply, she told the court. Gardaí did not object to the granting of bail, subject to conditions.
Judge Uinsinn Mac Gruairc remanded Guilfoyle, who works for a courier firm, in custody with consent to bail on his own surety of €500 and two independent sureties of €5,000. He also ordered him to surrender his passport and not to apply for a new passport. He was also ordered not leave the jurisdiction.
He also ordered that Guilfoyle sign on daily at Shannon Garda station and remanded him to appear in court on March 27th.
