Call to screen Irish soldiers

Labour Party spokesman on defence Mr Jack Wall called on the Government yesterday to ensure all Irish soldiers who served in Kosovo are screened for signs of radiation poisoning. "There is growing concern about the health effect of depleted uranium. Six Italian soldiers who served in Kosovo have developed leukaemia and died. Switzerland, Poland, Portugal and Spain are conducting tests on troops who served in the region. The situation is worrying," he said.
