NICOSIA - Trade unions from both sides of divided Cyprus yesterday urged the United Nations to expedite efforts to settle the conflict splitting the island.

Sixteen unions called for peace in a petition issued at a meeting at the Ledra Palace hotel in the capital, Nicosia, a UN-controlled checkpoint between the north and the south of the island. - (Reuter)
