GAA:Cork's dual star Eoin Cadogan will only play for the footballers this season, he revealed this evening. Cadogan explained that the demands of appearing for the Rebels in both codes would be too great for another year and that he has decided to focus solely on football with the county.
The Douglas clubman has been an integral part of both Conor Counihan’s Cork football panel and Jimmy Barry-Murphy’s Rebel hurling squad in recent years and his loss from the hurling panel will be keenly felt.
"I have decided to commit to the Cork Senior Football Panel exclusively for the 2013 season,” Cadogan said in a statement this evening. “I have taken this decision very reluctantly but after a period of reflection over the winter and a personal commitment to an education programme I will not be in a position this year to meet the demands of both codes.
“I would like to thank all those who have supported my dual commitments. I will be making no further comment on my decision."
Cadogan, who only returned from Australia this week after travelling for the past few months, will feature for the Cork footballers team in tomorrow’s McGrath Cup quarter-final against Tipperary at Páirc Uí Rinn (2pm).
Barry-Murphy has already lost Damien Cahalane to the footballers, with the Castlehaven man also opting to concentrate on just one code.
