The Cabinet will discuss Dail reform proposals at a meeting next week which is expected to concentrate on discussing the content of the forthcoming Budget.

The special all-day meeting has been called to discuss Budget proposals including taxation changes, increasing child benefit and child care funding. A Government spokesman said yesterday it would also discuss proposals of the Chief Whip, Mr Seamus Brennan, for four-day Dail sitting weeks as opposed to the current three, as well as a number of other proposals.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Cowen, will brief his colleagues on the issues to be decided at the forthcoming EU summit in Nice.
