A Dublin Labour councillor, Mr Eric Byrne, hopes to move an emergency motion at Monday's council meeting, calling on Dublin Corporation "to treat sympathetically" a man who is due to be evicted from his family home.

Mr Michael Devereaux (46), who is separated from his wife, has been living in the small terraced house in Crumlin where his parents have died in the past two years. He has barricaded himself in and said it would "take a tank to get in here".
