A Co Laois man is being treated in St James's Hospital, Dublin, after being shot at his business premises in Clonaslee on Tuesday night, writes Sean MacConnell, Midlands Correspondent.

The 55-year-old man had just locked up his agri-business and petrol pumps at Clonaslee when his car was approached by a man with a shotgun who fired a shot, injuring him in the shoulder and chest. The attacker then fled.

The man's injuries were said to be not life-threatening.
