A building worker has been killed in a fall at Dublin airport.

A building worker has been killed in a fall at Dublin airport.

The man was working on the construction of a new baggage hall area in the airport when the accident happened. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital and it is understood he died there a short time later.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the fall, which happened at lunchtime.

"A full and thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident will be carried out by the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) as soon as possible.

"The management and staff at Dublin Airport would like to extend its sincerest sympathy to the family of the deceased person," a DAA statement said.
