Last year was the worst for accidents on building sites. Thirteen people died and 1,500 were seriously injured. Provisional figures for 1996 suggest that the record for this year could be even worse, writes Padraig Yeates, Industry and Employment Correspondent.
The figures will be given at the launch of a new FAS Construction Safety Training Unit by the Minister for Enterprise and Employment, Mr Bruton, later today. The unit will travel around sites providing safety training to workers.
