Nicosia - Two Britons were remanded in custody when they appeared in court in Cyprus today on suspicion of attempted murder after a fellow Briton was stabbed and left in a serious condition.

Mr Andrew Gray (35), from London, was attacked during a beach party on in the resort of Ayia Napa on Saturday evening.

A spokesman for Nicosia police said they had arrested two men with London addresses and both had appeared before Larnaca district court, a town on the south of the island.
