A British man has been jailed for three months in Australia after admitting threatening to hijack an aircraft.

A British man has been jailed for three months in Australia after admitting threatening to hijack an aircraft.

Thomas Lilico (21) appeared in Cairns Magistrates' Court charged with making a threatening and false statement.

Police were called to Cairns airport after Lilico, who was on a working holiday in Australia, allegedly produced an aerosol can from his hand luggage and sprayed the cabin of a Qantas Airways flight before it departed for Darwin.

Lilico also allegedly produced a knife and made threatening remarks about hijacking the plane.
