A British soldier was killed in combat in Iraq this morning, according to the British Ministry of Defence.
"We regret that a soldier from 12 Mechanised Brigade has died today from injuries sustained in hostile action," a spokesman said.
No further details would be released until the soldier's next of kin had been informed, the spokesman said.
