Athens - A British couple living on the Greek holiday island of Cephalonia were found hacked to death in their bed by unknown assailants, police said yesterday.

Greek police identified them as Roy Egles (55), an electrical engineer, and his wife Judith (49), a retired accountant. They had bought a house in the village of Kaminarata and moved to the island four months ago. Police said they believed a group of assailants broke into the house to steal, found the couple sleeping and knifed them to death.
