London - A military team was yesterday investigating an explosion which killed a British man and resulted in his wife's death after she was stranded in the Saudi Arabian desert, the British Embassy said. Mr Ian McGhee (48), died after a suspected artillery shell he found in the desert blew up.
His wife, Ms Susan Hawson (36), alerted the local authorities using her mobile phone, but the search for her was delayed as she was unable to give her exact location. She was found 3 1/2 hours later dead from dehydration and exhaustion.
