Brazil's uranium enrichment plant in Resende will start working before the end of the year after getting a go-ahead from the United Nations' nuclear watchdog, the country's Science and Technology Minister said today.
Mr Eduardo Campos told reporters the decision followed a visit by experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency to the plant earlier this month, which put an end to months of discussions over access to the plant for UN inspectors.
The test phase at the plant in Rio de Janeiro state, which will be producing fuel for nuclear power reactors, will begin this year, he said.
