A man who sustained brain injuries after throwing himself off a motorway bridge some years ago was arrested on a city bus recently after the driver ran into a Garda station for help, a court heard yesterday.

Michael O'Connell (28), of Limekiln Green, Dublin, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct on a bus and breaching the peace at Rathgar Road on May 9th last.

Defence solicitor Mr Murrough O'Rourke said O'Connell jumped from a motorway bridge some years ago and suffered broken bones and brain injuries. These developed into a "brain co-ordination problem which gets him into these difficulties".

Judge Thomas Fitzpatrick remanded him on £100 bail to appear again before the court on July 22nd to allow time for probation and psychiatric reports.
