A 16-year-old boy accused of threatening to slit his social worker’s throat during an alleged death threat has been granted bail.

The female social worker, who is employed by the HSE, was threatened and prevented from getting out of her car during the alleged incident, which went on for 30 to 40 minutes, the Dublin Children’s Court has already heard.

Last month the boy had been refused bail at that court after he had been charged with criminal damage to the woman’s car and threatening to kill or cause her serious harm. Judge Clare Leonard remanded the teenager, who was accompanied at the hearing by his mother, to appear again at the Children’s Court in four weeks for directions from the DPP to be obtained.
