A seven-year-old boy has been killed in a fire at a mobile home on a halting site in Limerick today.

A seven-year-old boy has been killed in a fire at a mobile home on a halting site in Limerick today.

The boy's father and five-year-old brother were also in the mobile home, which was parked at the site at Clondrinagh, Ennis Road, Limerick. They escaped injury in the blaza, which started at aronun 10.30am.

It is understood the boy's father made an unsuccessful attempt to save his son, who was hiding in a cupboard from the flames.

The dead boy has been taken to Limerick Regional Hospital, where a post mortem will take place later today.

Gardaí have sealed off the scene pending a technical examination.
