A three-year-old boy was killed in a freak accident in Dingle, Co Kerry yesterday afternoon, when he was hit by a car that a six-year-old child had started.
The infant, named locally as David O'Connell from Spa Road, died at a private home at Ballyhea. It is understood that the children had been playing in the garden.
Gardai said the second child turned the key of the ignition, causing the car to lurch forward, trapping the infant underneath. The boy's body was taken to Dingle District Hospital for a post-mortem.
