A 16-year-old boy has died after he was knocked down by a car in Co Monaghan early this morning.
The incident happened at Cloughvally Upper on the Carrickmacross bypass at 5.45am, according to gardaí.
Officers in Carrickmacross station are appealing for witnesses to the incident Traffic diversions have been put in place at the scene of the accident.
