Books of condolences have been opened in all major towns in Co Monaghan. Some people in Monaghan town have placed bouquets at the local Church of Ireland.
School children from the three local schools have also left flowers, crayon sketches and sympathy messages on the steps of the local courthouse.
Dublin and Cork branches of Marks and Spencer, the UK-based department store and food chain, will observe one minute's silence tomorrow at 11 a.m. The British embassy has further extended its hours to allow people to sign its books of condolence. It will be open today from 8 a.m. until 4.30 p.m.
