The mangled London Underground carriage where seven people died in the terror attack near Edgware Road Tube was tonight being removed.

The carriage will be lifted by crane off the track on to a flatbed lorry.

It has already been winched out of the tunnel at the station where the explosion happened on Thursday, July 7th.

The sealed carriage will be transported to a secure police compound for further forensic examination.

The operation is expected to take about two hours, depending on the wind.

The wreckage, weighing around 20 tonnes, is all that remains of the carriage second from the front of the targeted Tube train.

The bomb was located in a standing area near the first set of double doors, police have said.

Since the explosion, police have been working to remove all the bodies of the victims before the carriage could be taken away.
