A bomb exploded under a car in Ballyfermot, Dublin, in the early hours of this morning.
The device was placed under a car parked in the front garden of a house in Rossmore Drive. It exploded at about 2am causing extensive damage to the car. No-one was injured in the blast.
An Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in and the scene was declared safe at 7am this morning.
Gardaí are investigating.
In a separate incident, an improvised grenade launcher and two .22 rounds of ammunition were found in a field in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim last night.
An Army EOD team arrived on the scene shortly before 11pm last night and declared it safe shortly after midnight. A small quantity of black powder and a detonator were removed by the team for further analysis.
