Body of woman found in Carlow

The body of a woman in her 50s was found near Carlow town this afternoon.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public at 4.30pm when the body was discovered in a field at Ballyvergal, off the Castledermot road, near Carlow.

The state pathologist is due on the scene tomorrow morning and the body will remain on site over night. The scene has been sealed off by gardaí for technical examination.
