Body of man discovered in Co Westmeath

The Garda in Westmeath is investigating the discovery of a man's body near Castlepollard this morning.

The Garda in Westmeath is investigating the discovery of a man's body near Castlepollard this morning.

The man's body was discovered lying face down on the Castlepollard road by ESB workers shortly before 11am.

Gardaí have not released the details of the man's injuries for operational reasons but it is believed he may have been stabbed.

The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is travelling to Mullingar to examine the body.
