The badly decomposed bodies of two hostages have been found outside Lamitan in the Philippines.

The two hostages are thought to have been killed last week, after the Abu Sayyaf rebels kidnapped 20 people, including three US citizens, at a beach resort on the western island of Palawan on May 27th.

One body was beheaded, and was identified as a guard at the resort.

Meanwhile the rebels have escaped an army siege during a surprise attack today.

They fled into the Philippine jungle with several hostages, including three Americans, the Philippinesmilitary says.
