The international arms inspectors, the former Finnish president, Mr Martti Ahtisaari and Mr Cyril Ramaphosa from the African National Congress, will meet the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, in Downing Street this morning to discuss progress on arms inspections in Northern Ireland.

Afterwards, the two inspectors will travel to Belfast where they are expected to meet pro-agreement parties for talks.

A Downing Street spokesman said the two inspectors had asked for the meeting with Mr Blair, who was "very happy" to oblige.

Last week, the two inspectors published a report confirming they had carried out a second inspection of IRA arms dumps. According to the report, the dumps had not been tampered with and had remained secure.
