Britain is considering a ban on the Jemaah Islamiyah group, which allegedly has links to al-Qaeda and one of the groups suspected in the weekend's deadly Bali bomb attack.
The British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, today told the House of Commons his government was "urgently" considering proscribing the group under the Terrorism Act, despite the fact it was not yet certain who carried out Saturday's bombing.
Pressed by the Conservative leader Mr Iain Duncan Smith as to why it was not being immediately banned, Mr Blair said evidence against the group was currently being assessed and that it had no known link with Britain.
