Blackburn are close to tying up a deal to bring Turkish striker Hakan Sukur to Ewood Park until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has met Rovers boss Graeme Souness three times to discuss terms and now the club believe they are on the verge of a deal for the player who is without a club since he was released by Italian side Parma.

Rovers chief executive John Williams told www.thisislancashire.co.uk: "We've effectively struck a deal which we think is workable, but there's still one or two loose ends to sort out.
