Twelve Dublin refuse charge protesters could be jailed by the High Court today if they refuse to undertake not to interfere with the movement of bin-collection trucks.

Mr Justin McQuade, counsel for 11 of those who refused to give undertakings, told Miss Justice Carroll yesterday he was not in a position to give such undertakings on behalf of seven women and four men.

Another man, who did not have legal representation, also did not give an undertaking.

The judge adjourned the matter to today and advised the 12 to "think very carefully" about their attitude.

Another 13 defendants apologised to the court for breaching an order of September 24th last restraining interference with refuse collection and gave undertakings that they would abide by the court rulings. They were told if they breached the undertakings, they would be in contempt of court.
