Motorcyclists are to take to the roads this weekend in protest against proposed EU legislation on bikes, scooters, tricycles and quads.

Rallies will be held in Dublin, Limerick and Donegal today. Thousands of bikers will hit the road before joining up in Athlone tomorrow. Some will join “slow rides” along motorways and dual carriageways.

Bikers are protesting over European Commission proposals linked to bike safety and claim the steps will raise motorcycle prices.
