The man who murdered two children and a carer at a Belgian nursery is also thought to have killed an elderly woman a week earlier, police said today.

Prosecutor Christian Du Four said the man being held for the massacre in Dendermonde may also have stabbed to death a 73-year-old woman close to the town on January 16th.

Mr Du Four said there were “very clear indications of links between the murders.” Authorities said the 20-year-old suspect, who has not been named, is refusing to co-operate with the investigation.
