Beef Or Salmon could contest the Clonmel Oil Chase on November 20th after missing his intended run at Leopardstown yesterday.
The seven-year-old, winner of the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup and the Ericsson Chase last season, had been due to have a spin on the Flat in the Leopardstown November Handicap
. However, trainer Michael Hourigan was unhappy with the good going at the track and pulled the gelding out.
"He's Ok, it was just the weather - the ground was bit quick for him. You don't get a horse like that everyday so you've got to watch him," he explained. Hourigan is now considering a crack at the Grade Two event at Clonmel later this month - a race that Beef Or Salmon won last year.
"We'll wait for the rain but the Clonmel Oil Chase could be the plan," he added.
