England captain David Beckham is to be awarded the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's annual honours list.
The OBE is one of the highest civilian honours the Queen can bestow.
Beckham's father said that the Manchester United midfielder would be delighted to receive the award.
Ted Beckham said: "I imagine he'll think 'blimey, he's only 28 and he's got an OBE'. It's superb."
