David Beckham's groin injury is not as bad as first feared, the English Football Association (FA) said today.
Beckham limped off during Manchester United's premier league match at Aston Villa yesterday, sparking fears that he would miss England's World Cup qualifying match against Germany on Saturday.
The England captain received intensive treatment from England physiotherapist Gary Lewin on what the FA call a "mild groin strain" today.
"There is less damage than first feared, but it is very difficult to tell the extent of the injury in the first 48 hours," Paul Newman, FA head of communications, told Reuters.
"David will be reporting as normal with the other players to the team hotel tomorrow, and after another assessment it will be decided whether he needs to go for a scan." -Reuters
