Barroso: What's in a name?

His full moniker, and one that would be used in Portugal in everyday references to him, is José Manuel Durão Barroso.

Thereafter, the Portuguese style is the somewhat slimmed down Durão Barroso, although the name is not a double-barrelled one. In English-speaking countries, the adopted style is to refer to him simply as Mr Barroso. Durão is Mr Barroso's mother's name, while Barroso comes from his father.
